Why choose us?

Because your cat deserves more than just a place to stay.

They deserve a peaceful, loving environment, carefully created with the understanding that every cat has their own unique character. We offer:

  • Windows in every room for endless birdwatching entertainment
  • Separate or shared secure outdoor areas to safely enjoy the fresh country air
  • Tunnels, towers and toys to scratch, climb and chase, for curious cats on the move
  • Sleeping spots scattered high and low, because even the most curious cat requires recharging
  • Time and space to make new friends (for those inclined to do so)
  • Private hideouts for the shy, the cautious, and the professional observers
  • Loving, attentive care from genuine cat lovers, dedicated to making yours feel relaxed and content.
We know there’s no place like home, especially for a cat, but we strive to make this a calm and comforting place where they can feel at ease.

About us

Michelle

Michelle has always loved cats. From their delicate little whiskers to their squishy little toe beans; the way they stretch and yawn, and how they can look deep into your soul one moment, then pretend you don’t exist the next.

She grew up with her family cats, Simba, Slim, and later Smokey Joe, on the eastern shore of the Derwent River in Hobart, Tasmania.

From a very early age, she was known for her love of cats, and that love has never waned. Their very form delights her, and she could easily spend hours watching them go about their secret cat lives.

Travel is another passion, but wherever she goes, Michelle is always seeking out cats. She’s befriended cats in Parisian cemeteries, along cobbled Roman laneways, in the medinas of Morocco and the bazaars of Cairo. She’s even been lucky enough to meet many of Africa’s big cats in Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Whether it’s one cat curled up on her lap or an entire pride resting nearby, Michelle is most content when in the company of cats.

In 2025, Michelle decided to set aside her 20+ year sensible career as a civil engineer, turning her focus to her true passion: Cats.

Sam

Sam grew up in the sleepy coastal village of Dodges Ferry in south-east Tasmania, with his ginger cats (Fatty and Skinny) as well as several dogs (great Danes, Huskies, Malamutes and German Shepherds).

From an early age, Sam's gentle curiosity saw him befriending the local wildlife as well as the family pets. He enjoyed making friends with the resident kookaburras, blue-tongue lizards, and any other little creatures who crossed his path.

His first career took him through the ranks as a non-commissioned officer in the Australian Army. Wherever he was posted, Sam continued appreciating the local wildlife, noticing and caring for the animals he encountered along the way.

After leaving the army in 2012, Sam followed his passion for the natural world, earning a degree in environmental science

and working as an ecologist. He is a skilled snake catcher and occasionally volunteers for the local wildlife rescue group, WIRES.

But his most important role is 'Cat Dad', to his own cats and the many foster cats and kittens lucky enough to find themselves in his care.

Our Family

Sam and Michelle have been together since 2010. At the time, Michelle was a single ‘cat mum’ to Atticus  a majestic and remarkable cat who loved car rides, paddle boarding and being boss of the house. Sometimes Michelle wonders who Sam fell in love with first… probably Atti!

They sadly lost Atticus shortly before his 19th birthday, while building Cats at Teven.
Although they don’t have human children, their hearts are full with love for their cats: twin former feral brothers, Scout and Jem, and Rogue — their beloved blind but bold and brave little calico girl.

Over the last decade, Sam and Michelle have fostered more than 300 cats and kittens, giving each one the love and tender care they deserve.
